At Dragonfly Designs, we believe the magic of an art experience comes from more than the project on the table.

Recently, one of our amazing art teachers, Craig, helped lead a Star Wars-themed birthday party — and he went above and beyond in a way that made the day especially memorable. In the middle of tie-dye, creativity, color, and excited kids, Craig surprised the birthday child and guests by showing up in an authentic Storm trooper costume.

It was playful. It was unexpected. It was completely joyful.

And it was such a beautiful reminder of what makes our teaching team so special.

While every Dragonfly Designs party is different, and we never want to promise a specific themed surprise or custom costume appearance, this moment reflects something we care deeply about: our teachers bring heart, creativity, and genuine care to the children and families we serve.

Whether we are leading an afterschool enrichment class, a summer camp, a birthday party, or a corporate team-building event, our goal is always the same: to create hands-on art experiences where people feel engaged, supported, and inspired.

For children, that might mean helping them feel proud of something they made with their own hands. It might mean encouraging them through a tricky step, celebrating their unique creative choices, or helping them feel seen on a very special day.

For adults, it might mean creating space to relax, connect, laugh, and try something creative together.

The projects matter. The materials matter. The planning matters.

But the care our teachers bring is what makes the experience feel truly memorable.

Craig’s birthday party surprise was one of those moments that reminded us how lucky we are to work with such thoughtful, playful, and dedicated teaching artists. We are so grateful for the energy, kindness, and creativity our team brings to Dragonfly Designs every day.
